Russell E. Mathews, 76 passed away peacefully on August 2, 2009 at Yorkshire House in Hemet. Russ was born on March 16, 1933 in El Centro, Ca. and resided in Hemet since the age of two. He was a 1951 graduate of Hemet High School where he excelled in athletics earning letters in both baseball and football. He completed a short semester at Cal Poly Pomona before receiving his draft notice and serving two years in the Army during the Korean War.

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted.  The summer has been keeping me busy with the kids and husband home.  They’ve been getting brown at the country club and the beach and I’ve been enjoying having them all day long.  School has crept up on us, though, and they’re all headed back next week…unbelievable.  Here’s a snap of the twins (who’s birthday(s) it is on Sunday..the great 8th year). I have been been shooting as well, this summer. One of my clients, HERE , had her baby a couple of weeks ago and she was so sweet.

When we arrived at the Lighthouse motel  we were at an impasse as there appeared to be no one in the place, let alone the office. The office itself had hung on it’s door,  a telephone tucked into a little pouch, with a note saying that the proprieter was in the, “Cottage”(one of the available guest accomodations) cleaning, and would the visitor phone her if anything was needed. We were certainly in the country! So we phoned and the young lady answered, telling us where our suite was and that the key to our “Oceanview”, suite was on the table (door unlocked) .

There was nothing on the video, and keyboard/mouse provoked no response. The PC has not hung in a very long while, but perhaps it did for some strange reason this time. Nevermind, hit the reboot button. No beep, no video. Okay, power cycle. Still, no beep, no video.

Tommy Lee’s METHODS OF MAYHEM Signs  to Loud and Proud / Roadrunner Records. Methods of Mayhem have found a new home with Loud & Proud  /Roadrunner Records.  The star studded brainchild of Tommy Lee is currently finishing album production with producer Scott Humphrey (Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails, Motley Crüe). The new album will be Methods of Mayhem’s first release since their 1999 self-titled debut.  Album is due out worldwide in early 2010.

For many people the name Naomi Sims may not sound familiar, but to fashion obsessed people like myself  and others, she was a fashion model legend. She was represented back in the day by the well known Wilhelmina agency, and worked with numerous famous designers. Naomi died of breast cancer, and she was definitely taken too soon.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are said to be on a different page about where they will finally lay their souls to rest. An insider said Jolie originally wanted to be buried beside her ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton. “She bought his and hers cemetery plots in Louisiana, but since then she’s changed her will. She’s been trying to persuade Brad to make a decision on where they should be buried but he thinks the whole thing is morbid,” the insider said. Jolie and Pitt in recent weeks have been said to be at odds about their lifestyle.

American Journalists, Euna Lee and Laura Ling were pardoned today by N. Korea.  Both had been sentenced on June 12th, to 12 years of hard labor.  Former President Bill Clinton journeyed to North Korea and met with Kim Jong II about a possible pardon and release.  The meeting was obviously very successful. There’s a lot of change going on lately. Jacob used to go to daycare twice a week, but with Terah being a full-time stay-at-home mom, that’s not happening anymore. Thursday was his last day there, and I think he and I both are going to miss it. Jacob always got to ride with me to and from daycare in the car. We’d have conversations about all sorts of 2-year-old interests: what sort of crops were in the field, what was in the silos, how soon we’d go over the train tracks, whether the crossing guard lights would be on, how many water towers there are.

Last week, we asked readers to name the sexiest pretend vampire of all-time. In less-than-shocking results, Robert Pattinson took home over three-quarters of the votes cast. It’s hard to believe that 4 years ago today our Joanne crossed over into eternal life. It’s always a sad day but reflective and filled with gratitude. I’m thankful for all the time we had together and for a love that people say is rare. I know that to be true. It wasn’t perfect, but it was awesome. I’m also thankful for the relationships I have with my kids now. We’ve grown, stretched, almost murdered each other, but in the end we are a closer family now. And you can’t top that.

My,my it doesn’t take long for things to change.. Over the weekend I took a wonderful hike up Cooked Creek and shared some images with you that I thought conveyed the beauty of the area, and less than 72 hours later this same creek has become a roaring river after the torrential amounts of rain we have received this morning, 4-5 inches is what I heard last.  It could have been much worse and we could be in Louisville Kentucky where they received 6.5 inches in 75 minutes, a record for that amount of time !!

The result of my injury was seven degenerative disks in my spinal column. The VA decided that as young as I was, surgery wasn’t an option.
