The Yahoo! Widget Engine (formerly known as Konfabulator) is a JavaScript runtime engine for Windows and Mac OS X that lets you run little files called Widgets that can do pretty much whatever you want them to. Widgets can be alarm clocks, calculators, can tell you your WiFi signal strength, will fetch the latest stock quotes for your preferred symbols, and even give your current local weather. What sets Yahoo! Widget Engine apart from other scripting applications is that it takes full advantage of today’s advanced graphics.

So since we took Noah to the Halo clinic in June, he has grown in leaps and bounds. It’s been amazing. One effect that we did not expect from the implementation of Soma-RPM , is the surge of verbal communication that has come out of Noah. Speech has always required a great deal of effort on Noah’s part and is very difficult for him.  New phrases and words require a great deal of concentration and work.  As a result, much of what Noah says…when he does talk…is either an echo of someone else’s speech, or a “script”… a memorized word or phrase that Noah is able to pop out in order to obtain a need or a want.

Lindsay Lohan’s been the victim of a two break-ins since she moved into her rented home less than a year ago. Who are the worst celebrity parents in the world? There’s a long list to pull from, but I’d say the constant drama surrounding Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler puts them right near the top. This is part 2 of my story of being subjected to the “texting while driving” video making the rounds, the kind of unintended effects videos like this can have, and why the alternative is so much more satisfying. As someone who has a wireless home business, naturally I have been watching the Buzzirk Mobile / GlobalVerge fiasco since about early June. In case you haven’t heard about it, it was a company that was supposed to deliver some new tethering technology that would allow you to use your cell phone as an internet appliance along with your computer. Good afternoon again. I just logged on to the internet from my home, and checked out the Weather Channel and the National Hurricane Center web sites. The Amerks had a media lunch event today that was a round table discussion of sorts about the past, present, future, and any questions in between.  A lot was discussed and I’ll try and sum up a lot of it the best I can.  The one thing that sticks out is that the Amerks are the Amerks.  They are not a team affiliated with someone else. There were two meetings for coffee yesterday.  One was with a friend/business associate, the other was with a friend/former business associate. Quite frankly both of those meetings were exceedingly important to me. With things making a turn for the worst with Mr, and well… the quest for a 9-5 still ongoing, the interludes were…  pretty helpful for me. Yesterday, after coming home from coffee and folding cranes, we turned the corner to see the lot where my truck had been parked previously, was now empty.  A new business had opened on the corner… a medical marijuana dispensary.  The lot had transients outside and was newly painted.

Life around here the past three days has been pretty predictable: drive to chiropracters, come home…etc. My back is feel much more limber (thank heavens!) and today’s treatment wasn’t nearly as painful as days past (I’m getting more mobility in my lower back and that’s a GOOD thing!). My other ‘not fun’ thing is: my car is in the shop…AGAIN.
