Shakespearean Word Play  On August 15, Dappled Cities will release their third studio album. Finally at the mature age of twelve, the band has decided to can its quirky gimmick which has seen them change their name each time they have released new material, deciding instead, to take a serious shot at international success. The band’s vocalist Tim Derricourt talked to me a few weeks ago about their new album Zounds; his own background in American literature and the perils facing many young Australian bands striving to gain international attention.

We used to always color with Sharon. In sessions. That was a special thing that Mae always did with Sharon. After Sharon left us, Mae could no longer color anymore. I was home visiting my parents a few weeks ago in the desert where they live, Kennewick, WA, part of the Tri-Cities- Richland, Pasco, and Kennewick. INSURANCE agents sell many homeowner policies as “replacement” policies, with the promise that they will pay for the replacement of a severely damaged home. But a close read shows that many of these policies are more limited than the term implies. To the insurer, replacement cost excludes any expenses for complying with building standards that did not exist when a home was built.

As more insurance companies cut back or even abandon their homeowners business in California because of earthquake risks, the state’s officials are groping for solutions to prevent an insurance crisis that could derail California’s economic recovery. Gov. Pete Wilson and his insurance adviser, Marjorie Burke, have scheduled a meeting on Monday with executives from 18 insurance companies to discuss the problem and the state’s role in keeping earthquake insurance available to homeowners.

A year and some change has passed. We had no idea how long lil sprinkles would survive when we first opened shop and we can’t imagine our lives now without our lil shop/craft/hobby. We have met so many great and talented people through lil sprinkles and now it’s our turn to say thanks! Thanks for keeping us motivated to sew and keeping our creative juices flowing! In the story, the daughter of an elderly theft victim said her family was devastated when a home health care worker stole more than $3,000 from her 93-year-old mother and wants to make sure this type of elder abuse doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Jenn and I are in the process of removing all of the wallpaper in our foyer. We’re giving the foyer a new colour but before we do that, we had to remove the wallpaper. All five or six layers of it. It’s a long and tedious process but we found a way to remove it a lot quicker than just scraping it off. The previous owners of the house applied wallpaper after wallpaper. I guess that’s the easiest thing to do when you want to cover up something. The first layer of wallpaper had a floral design.

Because I can, that’s why!  I had a light week this past week and wanted to make up some miles this weekend.  So I woke up this morning with a grand plan: to run the distance of a full marathon at an 8 minutes per mile pace.  I knew I would be able to cover the distance with no problem, and that the pace wouldn’t be an issue either.  What worried was recovery time.  And the heat.  This was the warmest and most uncomfortably sticky day of the year. I headed out the door around 5 a.m.

How do you introduce yourself?  If you are like me, it’s, “Hi, I’m Annie/Joe/Max’s Mom,” “Hi, I’m Sis. Mc.,” “Hi, I’m M’s wife,” “Hi, I’m Mrs. Mc.”  When are you ever just YOU.  When do I ever say, “Hi – my name’s Melissa.”  I’ve forgotten what it’s like to be just Melissa.  I have so many other characters, that Melissa is often pushed to the back of the closet.  I was reminded this weekend that I AM MELISSA!

you may not remember the time you let me go first or the time you dropped back to tell me it wasnt that far to go or the time you waited at the crossroads for me to catch up you may not remember any of those, but i do and this is what i have to say to you: today, no matter what it takes, we ride home together call it end-summer blues, but despite the 8am lecture and eyes so tired theyre burning holes into my brain, i cant make myself switch off the lights and go to bed.

Yesterday saw the 2009 Teen Choice Awards take place in Los Angeles, with the Jonas Brothers as its hosts for the night. And as we have mentioned in a previous post, Britney Spears did well, after receiving the Teen Choice Lifetime Achievement Award . This last application was easy to slack on the updates because the healing process was quick and uneventful (just how I like it). Literally after the first week blog-post the scab peeled off (with the help of tubing and jet-skiing) within the following 1-2 weeks (from week 1 application 3 post). There was no swelling, pain, additional scarring, blistering, or discharge of any sort. I am going to wait to do a fourth application until the weather cools down (I dont want to be sporting shorts and/or capris during the healing process).

Colonel Sanders finally sees that free chicken day in CLeveland was a bad idea. Rock Hill police were called to a home on Wilhurst Court on Thursday after a mother said two of her children were fighting over the last piece of chicken. The mother told police her 8-year-old son and her 12-year-old daughter got into an argument over who would eat the last piece of chicken and started threatening each other, according to a Rock Hill police report. Another sibling, 9, stepped in to try to ease the situation.
